As you are all aware, we are no longer taking referrals for the RtR contract. However, we can direct Job Centre Plus offices, any individuals looking to refer themselves for training, plus any other agencies looking to make a referral to the other contract holders for RtR in Nottinghamshire.

Background
In recent months NTN has run or hosted workshops on a variety of topics with the aim of informing members of key developments within the WBL and training sector e.g. TQS Part A application and TNA/ONA. Initial interest in these has been high and the workshops have gone ahead with the understanding that those who had agreed attendance would attend as confirmed. Unfortunately this has not always been the case and it has resulted in some workshops running with only 2 candidates instead of the confirmed 7 or 8.
Whilst NTN is aware that labour resource is a scarce commodity and priorities in an organisation can drastically alter over a short space of time, we expect at least a courtesy call of apology from attendees when circumstances change and they are no longer able to be present at the workshop. Again, this has not necessarily been the case.
Terms and Conditions
We regrettably feel it is now necessary to introduce a cancellation fee of £50 per candidate who cancels less than 72 hours or 3 working days beforehand or simply does not turn up for a workshop where they have confirmed attendance. The place can be filled by an alternative candidate however notice of this must be provided a minimum of 3 working days or 72 hours prior to the event.
Should you require additional information on this matter please feel free to contact Dermot Cooney or Jane Hearne at NTN on 01623 404 341.

Once again, the Nottinghamshire Training Networks (NTN) awards evening was a great success held at the East Midlands Conference Centre. The Oscar style awards celebrated the outstanding achievement of learners, their employers and training providers who deliver the work-based learning programmes across Nottinghamshire. These programmes are fundamental in raising the skills of young people and thus developing a more skilled workforce.
Debbie Harris of JHP said of the evening event ‘…sometimes we are so busy managing contracts that we need a reminder of what it’s all about and seeing the achievement of all the nominees was incredible. It’s about the learner and the awards provide a real opportunity to celebrate the success and achievements of our learners.’
There were 9 different award categories and the winner from each category won a fantastic trophy and £300 worth of vouchers, with each of the two runners up winning a trophy and £100 worth of vouchers.
2009 Overall Winner
On the evening, Stephen Slaney was judged the NTN overall winner and received a cheque for £1,000, presented by Debbie Harris of JHP, last year’s overall winner Paul Boulton and Janet Charlton, CEO of NTN. Stephen is currently working as an IT Coordinator with Positive Outcomes Ltd, who were also his training provider. He has recently completed an Advanced Apprentice, and has now begun a Foundation Degree in IT.
