The new teacher training regulations which were introduced into the sector from September 2007.
The link below outlines these regulations in an easy to follow diagram (flow chart), the new regulations will affect new teachers as well as teachers currently working in the sector and what responsibilities (including any further training/CPD) they will need to embark upon to fulfill the regulations and be deemed qualified to practise as a teacher in the Post 16 Lifelong Learning sector.

NTN’s Learner Support Service provides additional support for individuals who:
- need to develop their skills further in order to access an employment or training opportunity, or
- are at risk of not completing their existing education or training programme.
NTN’s Learning & Development Advisors utilise a fully person centred approach to working with individuals, employers, training providers , and other organisations, both on a one to one or small group basis, to ensure that each individual is able to maximise their potential.
Highly skilled Learning and Development Advisors are able to offer additional support to address barriers to progression, such as:
- low level literacy and numeracy skills,
- personal, social development issues (i.e. confidence, motivation, self esteem, budgeting, anxiety,
homelessness, substance misuse etc..)
- a learning difficulty or disability,
- lack of employability skills.
The NTN Learner Support Team is committed to the continuous improvement of provision across the sector and offer a menu of opportunities to enable organisations to:
- Increase capacity to improve the retention, achievement and subsequent successful transition of individuals.
- Develop their staff through programmes of CPD.
- Embed quality improvements within the organisations policies and procedures.
- Access funding opportunities.
- Keep up to date with changes within the sector.
