What is Train To Gain?

Train to Gain (TTG) is a service to help businesses across England to get the training they need to succeed and stay successful.  Train to Gain was introduced in 2005 and was designed to enable employers to develop the skills of their employees and improve their businesses performance. To deliver this programme NTN have acted as a lead contractor for local providers. NTN draw down funding from the Skills Funding Agency and subcontract the provision to our members who are part of our Train to Gain network.

NTN are responsible for the management of the contract and have procedures and processes in place that support the network providers in delivering levels 2, 3 and Skills for Life qualifications in the workplace. This quality assured training meets the needs of the employers, learners and the Skills Funding Agency.

The TTG network delivers training across all of the East Midlands and have worked with over 5000 learners since the start of the contract.

The abolition of the Train to Gain funding scheme was announced in the Comprehensive Spending review on the 20th October 2010. As a result of this NTN will be putting a stop on all Train to Gain starts in the coming months and Train to Gain funding will only be available for current live learners. With Train to Gain going, NTN will be focusing on becoming a lead contractor for local providers in delivering Adult Apprenticeships. NTN have already started the transition from Train to Gain to Apprenticeships by vireing 10% of our Train to Gain contract into Apprenticeships for 10/11.
