Dear Champion
By now you will be aware of a new series of five one day events entitled ‘Learning from Champions’. These events are for providers and practitioners who are delivering 16+ training and education under direct contacts with the LSC; especially those who were unable to attend the 3 day Champions training events.
Who should attend? Practitioners who would like to learn more about implementing QCF and Foundation Learning can do so directly from the Champions, as we all move towards full implantation in September 2010.
The events will provide important networking opportunities for practitioners and cover the latest policy updates as well as showcasing the LSIS resources such as the new interactive action planner and My Developments interactive online learning activities. Foundation Learning and QCF Champions will be leading workshops, alongside workshops that share the learning from Action Research Projects.
Please encourage your colleagues to follow the links below to register for a place on these very useful

LSIS Foundation Learning Support Programme
This content concerns The Learner Panel, a new online panel being set up by The Learning and Skills Council for learners to give their views on education issues. As this is a new panel, we need your help to publicise it and encourage your students to join.
The Learner Panel is a unique online research panel for those aged 14 and above who are either in compulsory learning or Further Education (including work-based learning). Fully funded by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC), it will provide a cost effective means of obtaining really accurate and representative research data for everyone in the sector interested in understanding the learner voice. The LSC has asked Opinionpanel, an independent specialist market research agency to build and manage The Learner Panel.
We need you to help us by inviting your pupils and students to join.
What's in it for the learners?
They will take part in interesting and sector-relevant surveys and earn shopping vouchers (normally £1 - £2 sent in the post after each survey), plus we will send the first 20 students who join up from your institution a £4 'thank you' bonus.
What's in it for you, as a learning provider?
The Learner Panel will be a resource for the whole sector. It will help produce accurate national data on a wide range of issues including learner satisfaction, course development and assessing the regional impacts of new policies. Institutions (as well as other stakeholders) will find the results invaluable. But please note, sample sizes will not be large enough to produce results giving any granularity at the level of the individual learning provider. The Learner Panel will not form the basis of any league tables.
What's next?
We need you to tell your students about the offer either on your website front page, on your newsfeed, in your next newsletter, on your intranet or through any other resources you have available to you. We have provided you with:
The Learner Panel logo (see attachment)
Copy you can use to tell your students about The Learner Panel (see below)
Links for the first 20 students who sign up from your college to use in order to receive a bonus of £4 just for signing up (see below)
The Learner Panel would be impossible without your assistance so many thanks in advance for your help in making The Learner Panel a great success!
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions. Alternatively, more information is available at www.learnerpanel.co.uk and in the FAQs document attached to this email.
Kind regards,
Hannah Paton

Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to invite you to the 2nd EM Foundation Learning Network Event.
Please find attached a copy of the programme for the session - thank you for your feedback from the last meeting. I hope you find that your thoughts have fed through into this meeting.
As you will see from the programme the focus and approach to this session is broader than the previous meeting (hence the wider invite) Although the session provides opportunities to discuss issues related to implementation planning, the emphais is clearly around supporting implementation and is designed to develop the understanding of those attending and also feed into ongoing workforce development.
Up to 4 places are available to each Local Authority. This can include Local Authority colleagues with direct responsibility for Foundation Learning and/or those who are developing their awareness and understanding. The session will have particular value for practitioners within organisations who are beginning to (or already) implementing Foundation Learning.
I am acutely aware of the 'business' of the calendar over the coming weeks and realise the challenges this presents. I thank you in advance for your flexibility in supporting this central area of reform.
Please refer to the attached programme for further details of the joining instructions and the outcomes/approach to the session.
Feel freee to contact me with any further queries. I look forward to hearing from you
Best wishes

....“The new regime (Skills Funding Agency) will very quickly start to look at ways of reducing the numbers of contracts which have to be, in their view, expensively serviced and managed. This will undoubtedly lead to the development of plans to increase the minimum contract values, and it is vital that providers, large and small, start planning proactively to deal with such a scenario"....
...."Providers have got to come together very quickly to think through how they will manage this change agenda to ensure that everyone with a future contribution to make is in the right place at the right time. Providers must grasp this nettle and be given a reasonable time (it will never be enough time) to redesign the delivery infrastructure”.....

Countdown #455
Dear Member,
Are you ready and able to address and respond effectively to the important changes soon to affect our sector?
To help us all manage this change, ALP will be holding a series of seminars/workshops in various locations across the country. The event will be highly participative and will last approximately 3 hours.
We need to get this right and avoid the sector being forced into an unworkable scenario designed by policy makers and funding agencies.
Such is the critical importance of this issue, it is vital that we optimize availability and accessibility for you. We want to make sure that the time and location is right and to this end we need your feedback. Once we have this we can then build the programme to optimum effect.
Please take JUST TWO MINUTES to answer by click on link to online survey
Please respond by no later than Wednesday 3rd March.
Dear all,
At the last Economic Wellbeing meeting the group received an update on the Machinery of Government (referred to as MOG) and the plans for Nottinghamshire. The group requested a copy of the organisation chart for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Futures please find this attached.
